Faith musings from the seat of a forklift.
It can be amazing how tight the job market is. It doesn’t seem to matter if you are applying to work in a warehouse or in an office. Just getting in can be almost impossible. However, as difficult as it can be to get hired for a job, getting into paradise is next to impossible. In the gospel of Luke, Jesus was asked about how many people would be saved. It would seem his teachings, which went beyond just the idea of keeping the Mosaic law, and even said one is guilty if they so much as contemplate the act, was not exactly sitting well with some people. Jesus then stated very clearly that entry to paradise and throne of God was only through the narrow door.
The narrow door? Yep. Even getting hired can mean entry through a narrow door. It is quite difficult to know what it is that an employer is going to want. Certainly having experience or some expertise in an area can help. However, such is not the case with God and getting access to his throne. Yes, we may have to enter through a narrow door, but what door? Jesus actually has answered that already. He is the only way to the father. He is the good shepherd that serves as the gate to protect the sheep from the wolves. So it is that Jesus is the only way to the father. Looks like getting into paradise requires going through Jesus. In some respects, it is just like getting in when apply for a job may require going through an interview with a potential supervisor. Just like you must go through Jesus to get into paradise, you have to go through that supervisor to get that job.
Jesus states very plainly that no man may come to the father, save through him. He is the narrow door. Such being the case, should we not look more closely at the teachings of Jesus and ask ourselves how we can be saved? Indeed, save that we repent and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins, we can not be saved. However, it goes beyond that. Jesus did not just die, he was buried, and he rose again. If we believe he did this for us, and he did, and we repent, then we can be saved. So it is, Jesus really is the narrow door and the only way to get in. Want to get in paradise? Go through the narrow door, go through Jesus, he will lead you.
