Faith musings from the seat of a forklift.
Performance evaluations are generally a common place item in most jobs. Usually it consists of a look at your performance on the job since hired or since the last evaluation period.
Ironically, we will all have to stand before God Almighty and give an account of our words and deeds, as highlighted in the Apocalypse (Revelation in some Bibles). Also, Christ Jesus spoke of this when he spoke about how he, at the judgment, would separate the sheep from the goats. In short, a performance evaluation. Sadly, unlike a performance evaluation in this life, there will be no chance of improvement afterwards. Rather, save that our names are found in the Book of Life, we are destined to an eternity in Hell. There is no second chance.
Now, as grueling as a performance evaluation may be in this life, it will be nothing compared to God’s final evaluation of our lives. I guess the question we must all ask is, “Am I in the Book of Life?”. This is something we must ask ourselves as only God can really know. If there is any doubt, and there should be, then we must seek God’s grace and forgiveness now, as we do not know when it will be our time to stand before God for that final performance evaluation.
